"BLACK NON-SQUARE"
130x110cm, 2000

The suprematist’s square is yet another subject that may be addressed critically through Morphism:

A static suprematist red, white or black square is readily transformed into a Morphistically shaped non-square to be employed in a single element composition of great purity. It may, however be considered less static, while its dynamics is increased from zero to a marginally higher degree. Yet, if viewed against a white wall the supremorphistic representation is of almost equal stability and the dynamic part vanishes. The picture totally rests in itself and indulges in big harmony and balance, whilst supremacy is restored.

Final considerations are given the suprematic representation of the cosmic rhythm of eternity. The Morphistic approach to the theme utilizes a painterly red picture plane of non-square format. Now the painting stands in strong contrast with its background and thus becomes a definite part of the rhythmic composition. Two further non-square contour lines of black colour and moderately tilted evoke a rotational characteristic. Now, with three elements interacting, rhythm is surely given preference over radical simplicity. Form and colour govern the composition.
